Location: Los Angeles, CA

Dean of Culture

Join a dedicated team that fosters autonomy and creativity, while receiving a competitive salary, opportunities for career and personal growth, and the gratification that comes from creating positive multi-generational change.

Ednovate Background

Ednovate launched its first school in 2012. Since then, we’ve grown to eight schools and are on a trajectory to reach 11 schools in just the next few years (you can read more about our schools here). Ednovate is committed to serving areas where students traditionally lack access to a quality college-prep education by building tuition-free, safe, high-performing public schools driven to create positive multi-generational change.

We are made up of world travelers, nacho connoisseurs, KPOP business owners, and Beyonce fans. We love LA and OC, and we're our students' biggest cheerleaders. We are looking to hire innovative changemakers who aim to continue our goal of becoming the high school experts across Southern California. Sound like you? Keep reading.

Position Overview

As a Dean of Culture at Ednovate, you will be responsible for establishing, maintaining and reinforcing a student culture that is aligned with Ednovate's values, where students feel safe, respected, and engaged. You will lead a consistent caring and accountable culture at your school site that enables all students to learn in a joyful and rigorous environment. You will supervise Culture Team Members and collaborate closely with other members of the leadership team, school staff, parents, and the network support team. This role is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong relationship building, collaboration, and communication skills looking to create positive multigenerational change in a collaborative, results-oriented environment. This is a full-time, exempt role that reports to the Principal.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the culture leader of the school. Meet all culture goals, including goals for school suspensions and detentions, reminders, attendance, and NPS scores from students and families. Supervise Culture Team Members, intentionally building their capacity to execute on student culture systems, processes, and norms. Model top-notch behavior intervention practices and Ednovate’s values so that staff, students, and families have a high-quality experience in every interaction. Actively participate in all relevant meetings to ensure coherence, consistency, and alignment in student culture implementation.

  • Create and implement culture systems. Deeply internalize Ednovate’s caring and accountable culture standards. Develop, implement, and monitor caring and accountable behavior management systems that support positive student conduct and academic achievement. Assist teachers in creating and implementing clear, consistent and logical class structures and routines. Analyze culture data to identify areas for improvement and improve systems and processes accordingly.

  • Partner with staff and families. Support teachers and other staff to resolve escalated behavioral issues while increasing their autonomy. Build staff capacity through coaching and leading professional development sessions on culture-building, classroom management strategies and restorative practices. Build strong relationships and partnerships with families and the local community to support student success and well-being, meeting goals for attendance by parents and family members in behavior conferences. Collaborate with staff across the school and network to share best practices and contribute to the continuous improvement and growth of the organization.

  • Mission-driven professional passionate about increasing college attainment for historically under-represented students

  • Social justice champion committed to promoting educational opportunity for all students and families

  • Entrepreneurial spirit who thrives in a workplace characterized by autonomy, flexibility, transparency and accountability

  • Collaborative team player who works well with others from diverse backgrounds, uplifts and celebrates our teammates and engages in healthy debate and feedback to get the best results for students and families

We're Committed To Giving You

  • A competitive and transparent salary ($75,000 to $100,000, depending on background and experience). NOTE: 2025-2026 salaries will be updated in March 2025.

  • Medical, dental and vision coverage - including a fully-paid medical and dental option for employees and their families - and flexible spending account options
