2024-2025 Family Engagement Coordinator

Department: EDNOVATE
Location: Santa Ana, CA

Ednovate Background

Ednovate launched its first school in 2012. Since then, we’ve grown to eight schools and are on a trajectory to reach 11 schools in just the next few years (you can read more about our schools here). Ednovate is committed to serving areas where students traditionally lack access to a quality college-prep education by building tuition-free, safe, high-performing public schools driven to create positive multi-generational change.

We are made up of world travelers, nacho connoisseurs, KPOP business owners, and Beyonce fans. We love LA and OC, and we're our students' biggest cheerleaders. We are looking to hire innovative changemakers who aim to continue our goal of becoming the high school experts across Southern California. Sound like you? Keep reading.

Position Overview

As a Family Engagement Associate (FEA) at Ednovate, you will bridge the gap between school and family, actively involving our families in the educational process and empowering them to support their student’s learning and development. Through strategic outreach, tailored support and consistent communication, the FEA will collaborate with the Community Schools Coordinator and other teammates to strengthen family-school connections, enhance parent engagement, and boost student success, creating a supportive environment where families are valued as essential partners in their child’s education. This role is an exciting opportunity for anyone with experience in parent engagement, youth development or health and human services looking to create positive, multigenerational change in a collaborative, results-oriented environment. This is a full-time, exempt role that reports to the school principal.

What You’ll Do

  • Build Strong Relationships with Families: Foster deep connections with parents and guardians by planning and leading school meetings such as Coffee with the Principal, Parent Advisory Committee (PAC), and English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC); building trust and increasing family participation in school events, workshops, and meetings; and developing programs that help families engage with Ednovate’s curriculum, understand the school system, and advocate for their children’s success.

  • Create Effective Communication Channels: Ensure consistent communication between the school and families by leveraging the school’s website, bulletin boards, social media platforms and ParentSquare to send clear, timely messages to parents about events, and other important updates.

  • Strengthen Advocacy Networks: Build and nurture a network of parents and community leaders who are invested in local change by facilitating regular one-on-one meetings to cultivate leadership and empower families to advocate for their children and recruiting and supporting parent ambassadors.

  • Coordinate Home Visits: Work closely with the school team to schedule and track home visits, strengthening relationships with families and supporting student attendance and engagement.

  • Lead the Administration of Family Surveys: Manage the collection and analysis of family surveys and use data to gather insights, make program improvements and ensure the timely submission of reports.

Who You’ll Be

  • Mission-driven professional passionate about increasing college attainment for historically under-represented students

  • Social justice champion committed to promoting educational opportunity for all students and families

  • Entrepreneurial spirit who thrives in a workplace characterized by autonomy, flexibility, transparency and accountability

  • Collaborative team player who works well with others from diverse backgrounds, uplifts and celebrates our teammates and engages in healthy debate and feedback to get the best results for students and families

  • Resourceful, persistent learner with a growth mindset, constantly seeking to “find a way or make one” to master your craft and improve results.

We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree plus 3+ years of proven experience in community development, education, social services, or related field required. (Equivalent work experience may be substituted for the education requirement.)

  • Skilled communicator, brand builder, and culture carrier who can effectively lead through influence and inspire action required.

  • Rigorous time-and-task management, with a demonstrated ability to backwards plan to advance both long- and short-term priorities, required.

  • Proven track record achieving consistently strong results in youth development, academic enrichment, family support or similar, required. Strong ties to the community preferred.

  • Experience leading community partnerships and working with diverse stakeholders such as administrators, teachers, parents, and students required.
